Technology

Web Design
wordpress
WordPress is web software you can use to create a beautiful website, blog, or app and is one option available here at Greenwich.
GCSD hosts its own WordPress server and can even create custom themes for your site.
If you’re interested in having your own site or blog or combination please give Bill or DJ a call or email them.
Google__G__Logo.svg  Google Sites
Another option since the district’s transition to Google is Google Sites.
Create sites as simply as writing a doc through an intuitive editor.
Or if you’re interested in learning to CODE websites…

digital media
This section contains several helpful items related to digital media…
Definition: a podcast is a type of digital media consisting of single or an episodic series of files (either audio or video)
subscribed to and downloaded through web syndication.
The word is a neologism derived from “broadcast” and “pod” from the success of the iPod,
as podcasts are often listened to on portable media players.
Grammar Girl has quick and dirty tips for better writing and includes many podcasts!!
Here are a few podcasts to check out:
Webcastsheader
Definition: to use the Internet to broadcast live or delayed audio and/or video transmissions,
much like traditional television and radio broadcasts.
Users typically must have the appropriate multimedia application in order to view a Webcast.
The Wild Classroom – now videos, originally done as webcasts (subscription available thru iTunes)

Pearson

think central

ThinkCentral K-6 is the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) Web site
that allows you to access digital materials associated with one or more HMH programs.

A single user name and password provides you access
to digital resources in all subject areas that your school has purchased,
including teacherguides, student eBooks, assessments, and reports.

visual thesaurus

The Visual Thesaurus is an interactive dictionary and thesaurus which creates word maps
that blossom with meanings and branch to related words.
Its innovative display encourages exploration and learning.
You’ll understand language in a powerful new way.

Say you have a meaning in mind, like “happy.”
The VT helps you find related words, from “cheerful” to “euphoric.”
The best part is the VT works like your brain, not a paper-bound book.
You’ll want to explore just to see what might happen.
You’ll discover — and learn — naturally and intuitively.
You’ll find the right word, write more descriptively, free associate —
and gain a more precise understanding of the English language.
